Singapore is a small island just off the southern tip of the Malaysian peninsula and is about 80 miles north of the equator.  It was founded as a trading post by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1819 and has had a strong British presence right up to the early seventies.  During the late sixties (June 1967 to December 1969) my father who was in the Royal Air Force at the time was fortunate enough to get a family accompanied posting to the island.   The object of the site is to be able to share a few memories and photograghs of my time there.

Somewhere around the beginning of 1967 my father came home one day and asked if the family all fancied living out in Singapore for a while as he had the chance to apply for a "posting" out there.  Well his application was accepted and the family made our preparations for the move.  There seemed to be a never endless session of trips to the medical center to have "jabs", some of which made your arm really ache.

I might also include some information about my personal history: where I grew up, where I went to school, various places I've lived. If I have one, I'll include a picture of myself engaging in an activity I enjoy, such as a sport or hobby.

What a job!

I might describe my job in a little more detail here. I'll write about what I do, what I like best about it, and even some of the frustrations. (A job with frustrations? Hard to believe, huh?)
